Michigan Public Service Commission Funded, HTI Biomass Development Center

HTI is creating and operating a Biomass Gasification Commercialization Center and Solid Fuels Testing facilities that will utilize alternative fuels for energy production such as animal manure, woody residues, ethanol production by-products and municipal biosolids. The Center will develop and improve emerging technologies for gasification and electrical energy generation, including the use of starved air rotary gasifiers, proprietary ceramic heat exchangers and air turbine generators. The center will also expand gasification as a viable renewable energy technology by developing improved methods of heat transfer and electrical energy efficiency.
